TAFE Outreach programs are closely aligned to the Federal Social Inclusion Agenda ensuring NSW education is accessible to people who face barriers to learning including geographical and social isolation, language and cultural factors, financial hardship, lack of educational confidence, being unaware of opportunities to learn, a disability or family commitments.
What are the outcomes?
A total of twenty people have participated in the project. They have developed knowledge and skills on sustainability and environmental practises. In addition they have learned team skills and increased confidence and self-esteem. A survey of New Horizons clients showed that over 55% want to take part in courses through TAFE. A demonstration garden for sustainable living has been developed to
showcase environmental practises to the general public
demonstrate practical reuse of materials
educate people in sustainable practices
provide a venue for group tours, school excursions, disability service and aged care outings
offer a training facility for environmental skills
